This week's NSFW ANTI-WORK #BANGERS:

OHIO STATE'S DYNAMIC TANDEM. Ohio State's defensive line (rightfully) gets a lot of love. Ohio State's linebackers (rightfully get a lot of love). And yet, I feel like Ohio State's safety tandem of Vonn Bell and Tyvis Powell are... almost underrated?

From Dispatch.com:

“You look at us last year, I think we might have been the No. 1 team in the country as far as fewest big plays allowed. It’s because those guys could tackle and cover stuff up.”

Powell was named the defensive MVP of the national championship victory over Oregon after making nine tackles against an explosive offense led by Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota. And Powell grabbed an interception in the end zone on the last play of the Buckeyes’ 42-35 victory over Alabama in the national semifinal.

Bell was second on the team with 92 tackles and had a team-best six interceptions last season, including one against Alabama near the goal line in the fourth quarter.

“Vonn Bell has that it,” Ash said. “He’s always around the ball; good things always seem to happen for Vonn Bell. He has a knack for making things happen and making plays on the ball.”

One of the other things I enjoy about the tandem: The duo embodies the talent behind the Ohio State recruiting machine. Bell was a five-star, must-have recruit. He plays alongside a three-star developed by the staff.

Speaking of recruitment... this isn't the Tennessee fan reaction for which I searched (pretty sure the Kid Rock-lookin' Vols fan who chained smoked/cussed after Bell's commitment deleted his video), but this substitute is golden as well:

Derek Dooley vs. Urban Meyer, LOL. Tennessee never stood a chance.

THE TAO OF BEAMERBALL. Look at it this way: We're closer to the Virginia Tech game today than we were yesterday.

From SecondLevelFootball.com (via the deftly-named Mean Mr Mustard):

Beamer’s “secret,” though, was never about tactics or coaching techniques. VT’s tremendous special teams run of blocked kicks and returns for touchdowns was the result of Beamer’s managerial skills. He took Claiborne’s emphasis and magnified it to a degree probably not seen before in major football.

First, Beamer invested his coaching staff in the philosophy. If you watch a VT game on television, you’ll hear at some point that Beamer is the squad’s “Special Teams Coach,” and that he takes personal responsibility for the performance of his kick units. This isn’t the easiest responsibility in the world—just ask Georgia Tech’s Paul Johnson how his stint with special teams went.

What you don’t hear as much is that each of Beamer’s assistants is responsible for a particular aspect of the kicking game. Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster, for example, coaches the punt- and kick-blocking teams.

I understand the legend of Beamerball, but one of my bold predictions about the Virginia Tech game is Ohio State will block a punt.

HMMM. This is not the same as the Virginia Tech/Cincinnati cases.

Why? Because OSU student-athletes sign up for those services. That's a little different than an organized fine structure where lost yardage costs a student-athlete more money than skipping class.

#PHENOMENALSWAG. The only way I would buy this is if I can hook the hose up to a keg. One of my friends would die, but it would be worth it.

From BustedCoverage.com:

“The Fire Truck” is currently up for auction on eBay with a starting price of $10,000, which, if you ask us, is a total steal. According to the seller, the truck only has 44,995 miles on it and comes with popup tents, social media profiles and potentially the two 52” TVs (depending on the price).

You know who else rolls in a firetruck to OSU games? Nobody. If you have $10,000 sitting in your bank account and you don't buy this, why do you even have money!?!?!?
