I hope you approach today with the swagger and confidence of Jameson Williams.

I too cannot wait to become rich.

Word of the Day: Perspicacious.

HE'S GOT NEXT. At Ohio State, we've got a time-honored tradition of counting our top-five picks at defensive end before they even sign a letter of intent.

That's an absurd expectation to place on someone before they even attend prom, but it's worked out fine thus far, and Jack Sawyer's got no problem taking it on.

The expectations will be unreasonable. Impossible to fulfill, even. Those who came before Jack Sawyer at Ohio State—players he has dissected and idolized for much of his football life—have created a tradition in which dominance is the standard.

Anything less than that will be seen as subpar, and Sawyer is content with that. He knows what defensive ends have done recently in Columbus. He understands and welcomes anyone calling him the next Chase Young. Or Nick Bosa. Or Joey Bosa.

"I kind of love that people expect that," Sawyer says. "I want those expectations."

...

"It's surreal to think about," he says. "In less than seven months, I'll be enrolled at Ohio State and hopefully on the path that the Bosas have taken and Chase Young has taken and other guys before them. That's kind of just awesome."

To be honest, I feel like the first question Ohio State should ask and prospective player or coach is "how do you feel about unreasonable expectations?" Because that's basically the job description around these parts.

HOLD THAT TIGER. My favorite recent recruiting trend is the one where Ohio State takes the best receiver in the class and then another guy who is likely massively underrated.

We're waiting on Emeka Egbuka to fulfill that first part, but we've already got that second part figured out...

STOCK CLIMBING -- Jayden Ballard, committed to Ohio State

When we started comprehensively looking at film, measurables and track and field testing for this class, not many prospects had the profile of the Washington (Ohio) Massillon standout who has been committed to the Buckeyes since June 2019, the second pledge in Ryan Day and company’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class. Ballard is certainly one of the jewels and he’ll jump over 50 spots into our Top50 in the latest release.

On film the 6-foot-2, 175-pound Ballard shows terrific ball skills, and unique ability to accelerate out of his cuts. He stretches the field, he easily separates from defenders and he’s one of the fastest players in this recruiting class.

The latter point there is documented. When looking at Tracking Football, their database says his 10.89 mark in the 100m dash is better than 96 percent of the 2021 prospects in their database and better than 83 percent of their receivers list (7,237) all-time. And we’re talking about a sophomore time with that last stat. That time is just .04 behind the time Chris Olave ran in 2017.

Next year, there's a very real chance that everyone in Ohio State's receiving corps is a former top-100 player coming out of high school. That's so absurd that it sounds made up, but here we are.

STILL THE KING. Any attempt to usurp Drue Chrisman's bottle-flipping throne is a futile endeavor, and our champion proved it yesterday, boldly besting a pesky challenger.

It would seem that @Kjento07 underestimated Chrisman's powers, using a mini water bottle and a running clock to top The King's number by a mere one flip. I doubt it will happen again.

PRE-MARKET TRADING. Players can't profit off of their name, image and likeness quite yet, but that ain't stopping a former Buckeye from proactively seeking some potential endorsees.

Just throwing this out there – I'm a Buckeye and I am allowed to get paid off of my likeness, just in case you feel like signing a deal with a mediocre Ohio State blogger.

UNREALISTIC, YET VERY REAL. The more I think about it, the more I believe Chase Young's physique might actually be better explained by him being an extraterrestrial hunter as opposed to a football player who turned 21 two months ago.

For example, behold:

I do not know how much weight Chase Young is lifting in the photo, but I do know it is plenty enough to crush me like a roach under a steel toe boot.

SONG OF THE DAY. "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King.

NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. The sad tales of Antarctica’s deaths... 32 bags of marijuana were delivered to wrong neighbor... Why are breast implants still putting millions of women at risk?... Young people are having less sex than ever... The inventor of Ibuprofen tested his product on his own hangover...
