The new polls are out and the Buckeyes have risen to #1 in the ESPN/USA Today Poll while Wisconsin jumped the Bucks for the top spot in the AP Poll.
Hoops polls are kind of like being voted "Most Likely to Succeed" in high school -- great, but not worth a whole lot unless you do something later. Whereas in football, a spot in the top two is needed to get a chance to play for all of the marbles, a #1 ranking in basketball is usually only worth a top seed in the tournament (and that's assuming that a team shows up for its conference tournament).
It would have been nice to grab the top spot in the AP poll for the first time since 1962, but instead, the Buckeyes will have to look forward to getting there the old fashioned way. They'll get a chance to earn it at home against Wisconsin this Sunday.
