In a brief break from all the madness that is March, 11W reader and all around good guy, Scott wrote in to remind us about the annual ice hockey battle between the Columbus Police and Fire departments. The event, now in its 7th year, will be played on in Nationwide Arena, April 1st, immediately following the 12:30PM Blue Jackets game against the Detroit Red Wings. Oh yeah, Scott is also the goalie for the Police squad, so feel free to get that "chanting the goalie's name" thing going if he lets in some knucklers.
The game benefits the Blue Jackets Hats For Heroes charity campaign and is a lot of fun, to boot -- in past games, firemen have managed to sneak a donut into the faceoff circle.
Tickets are still available from as low as $23.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming, Simmons' latest is out and he's not such a big fan of Big Ten hoops:
Meanwhile, OSU and Wisconsin were having the basketball equivalent of a rock fight on CBS. Gimme a break. The Big Ten is awful. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Ouch.
