Quarterback Verlon Reed became the 14th member (15th with Carlos Hyde) of the 2010 Ohio State recruiting class today. The Marion-Franklin High School standout pulled the trigger for the Buckeyes today after taking his official visit to Columbus this past weekend. He chose the Bucks over Toledo, Bowling Green, Syracuse, Kent State, and others.
Reed will currently come in to play quarterback, but a move to wide receiver or defensive back is not out of the question. I think the staff will see how Taylor Graham's injury comes along, as well as how Kenny Guiton develops before making a final decision on Reed. Reed's versatility and athleticism are obviously very attractive to the coaching staff and if he works hard once getting to Ohio State, he could end up being a diamond in the rough a la Troy Smith, James Laurinaitis, Malcolm Jenkins, etc.
