While you were busy eating turkey, college football was busy going ham. After an insane weekend featuring ridiculous comebacks from Auburn and Nevada and a ridiculous bedlam match between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, we're close to having the bowl picture completely filled out. What we do know is that if Oregon and Auburn both win, they're playing for the national title. If just one wins, TCU is all but assured of filling the other spot. If they both lose, may god have mercy on our TCU v. Oregon/Stanford national title. Until we get to that point, we rank the teams based on how we think they shake up. Tell us how much you irrationally hate Nevada despite having only seen them play once all year -- and besides, when will Boise State show us their birth certificate? What have they got to hide?
| In a Friday afternoon affair very few actually sat all the way through (raises hands uncomfortably) Bo Pelini and co. found a way to bounce back from the frustrations in Bryan-College Station and took down Colorado 45-17. The reward for Big Red's effort? The final Big XII championship where there'll surely be called for 47 penalties. Next up: Big XII Championship vs #13 Oklahoma, 8:00 PM. | 2
| In the only national rivalry to involve mass murder, Missouri beat down Turner Gill's hapless Jayhawks, 35-7. Gary Pinkel and co. finish a somewhat surprisingly strong effort and appear to be headed to either the Alamo, Cotton, or Holiday Bowls. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | 3
| In a thoroughly defensively paltry (though highly entertaining) contest, Oklahoma found a way to down plucky little brother Oklahoma State, 47-41. All Bob Stoops does is win huge conference games and divisional championships. Next up: Big XII Championship vs #11 Nebraska, 8:00 PM. | 3
| Welcomed Mike London back to the Virginia-Virginia Tech rivalry by extending the consecutive losses by the Cavs via an impressive 37-7 dismantling. The Hokies are one game away from a huge turn around following the disheartening (and frankly stunning) losses to open the season. Next up: ACC Championship vs #20 Florida State, 7:45 PM. | --
| While their offense was as game as ever, Bill Young's defense couldn't find a way to stop the Sooners late as the Cowboys fell to OU, 41-47. They're stuck in the same limbo as Missouri waiting to see which of the non-BCS bowls they'll be sent to. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | 7
| Arguably the most fortuitous team in the country, LSU's lack of competent offense finally bit them in the behind as they fell to Arkansas 23-31. They'll now likely face a hungry Big Ten team in what could be an intense (albeit low scoring) bowl affair. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | 7
| In a game many (Kirk Herbstreit and yours truly amongst them) said had all the makings of the typical looking ahead/distracting/trap rivalry contests, South Carolina maintained full focus and manage to complete wax Clemson, 29-7. Now they'll have a shot in a rematch game to play their way into a BCS rematch of the famed 2002 Outback Bowl against the Bucks. Next up: SEC Championship Game vs #2 Auburn, 4:00 PM. | 1
| Despite taking an early 24-0 lead, couldn't hold on down the stretch as Kirby Smart and Nick Saban's defense seemingly lost their ability to contain Cam Newton and Auburn, falling 27-28. SEC ideologues will spit non-sense for the next 3 weeks that the 4th place team in the SEC West would win blah blah blah conference effortlessly; do your best not to vomit. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | 7
| On a cold Thanksgiving night, Texas A&M found a way to dig deep and outlast a very game (albeit sloppy) rival Texas Longhorns side, 24-17. Cyrus Gray went absolutely bonkers accruing over 220 yards including two incredibly long TD strikes in the win. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | --
| A near decade of frustrations culminated in an absolute frustrations taking out upon whipping of Florida, 31-7. Also courtesy of divisional rival Maryland, the Seminoles will have another game and a shot at playing their way into the BCS in the ACC Championship Game. Next up: ACC Championship Game vs #14 Virginia Tech, 7:45 PM. | 1
| Flashed the same defense that contained a tough Louisville offense a week back and completely embarrassed Pitt, 35-10. It's one thing to beat your rival, it's another to play their coach's way onto the hot seat. Still need help if they're to jump UConn and head to the BCS, however. Next up: vs Rutgers, 12:00. | 2
| What better way to take down your most hated rival then on a blocked field goal in the waining moments of the contest? Utah did just that in taking down bYU, 17-16. A frustrating season by recent measures of success will culminate, perhaps in Las Vegas. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | 2
| Wrapped up a marvelous season by Dan Mullen and co. by beating rival Mississippi 31-23 in the annual Egg Bowl. Despite a respectable job done by Sylvester Croom, Mullen's taking the ship to a whole other level with the Bulldogs finishing the season 8-4. Next up: Bowl to be determined. | --
| Perhaps the most impressive non MWC/WAC side, Northern Illinois culminated the MAC season making Eastern Michigan look just the way they did against the Bucks, beating EMU, 71-3. Despite a great job done by head coach Jerry Ball, the Huskies will still have to take down a very game Miami University Redhawks team if they want to head back to Detroit as the MAC Champs in late December. Next up: MAC Championship vs Miami University, 7:00. | --
| Bye Week. Next up: Bye Week, then vs Army, 12/11. | --
Dropouts: NC State Wolfpack, Arizona Wildcats, Iowa Hawkeyes
