Despite defeating Ohio State three times this season, Penn State was left out of the NCAA Tournament.

The Nittany Lions didn't let that get them down, however, rattling off five straight victories to win the National Invitation Tournament, capped by an 82-66 win in the championship game against Utah on Thursday night.

Lamar Stevens led Penn State with 28 points in Thursday night's game, while Josh Reaves scored 18.

Tony Carr, who played an integral role in all three of the Nittany Lions' wins over the Buckeyes and will now have a decision to make on whether to enter the 2018 NBA draft, scored 15 points, grabbed nine rebounds and tied an NIT single-game record with 14 assists.

Penn State finished the season with a 26-13 record.
