The Detroit Pistons' interest in hiring John Beilein as their next head coach ended up getting the Michigan head coach quite the contract extension.
Beilein ultimately decided to stay put in Ann Arbor after Michigan offered him a contract extension through the 2022-23 season, the school announced Wednesday.

The extension includes a rollover deal that states Beilein's contract automatically extends one additional year until either Beilein or Michigan give proper notice by mid-April of different intentions.
Beilein has led the Wolverines to two national championship games in his tenure, losing both in 2013 and 2018 respectively. Since leaving West Virginia for Michigan in 2007, Beilein has accumulated a record of 248-143, missing the NCAA Tournament just three times in that span.
