Jim Boeheim was involved in a tragic event on Wednesday night, hitting and killing a man walking outside a vehicle on Interstate 690.
The police investigation revealed that the man, identified as Jorge Jimenez, was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control on the highway striking a guard rail.
“The occupants then exited the vehicle and proceeded to walk on the highway within close proximity to that vehicle,” Syracuse police said in a 9:51 a.m. release obtained by Syracuse.com. “An oncoming vehicle noticed the disabled car and tried avoiding the vehicle, which was in the middle of the road.”
Boeheim then struck Jimenez and he was later pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital.
No charges have been filed and Boeheim passed field sobriety tests and was later confirmed to have a blood-alcohol registered a .00.
