Another member of the James basketball family finds themselves taken with the allure of Los Angeles.

After a wild recruiting cycle that included no shortage of media circuses thanks to the profile of his father, Bronny James has decided he will play his college basketball for the USC Trojans over the likes of Ohio State and Oregon.

The choice allows James to remain close to his father, Lakers star LeBron James, who has expressed a strong desire to play on the same NBA team that drafts his son prior to retiring from professional basketball.

James' commitment represents the third in USC's 2023 recruiting class, although he does not currently serve as its most prestigious member or even guard. That would be five-star prospect Isaiah Collier from Marietta, Georgia, who has been committed to the Trojans since last year.

Given his father's attachments to Ohio and long-professed affinity for the Buckeyes, the recruiting process James underwent with Ohio State goes back for some time. The father and son duo appeared to enjoy themselves very much at the Buckeyes' football home opener against Notre Dame this past fall.

A few weeks later, a source privately relayed to Eleven Warriors that a commitment from five-star guard Taison Chatman would likely conclude the portion of Ohio State's recruiting class emerging from high school.

Eleven Warriors last examined James' potential to join the Buckeyes in January, when James relayed Ohio State had made his list of final three schools. The Buckeyes already had some high-level competition at guard coming in themselves by that point, and now Chatman will join the team as the only true guard arriving from high school in the 2023 class, though wing Scotty Middleton could also line up in the backcourt.
