South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier, the Head Ball Coach — the coach we all know and (sometimes) love — is quitting, effective immediately.

The Head Ball Coach is hanging up his visor, FootballScoop can confirm. Sports Illustrated first reported the news Monday evening.
An interim head coach will be named Tuesday morning at 8:30 ET.
Spurrier is 70 years-old, and his Gamecocks sit at 2-4. The former Heisman winner finishes as SC's all-time winningest coach with an 86-49 record in 11(!) years.
