It's football team is mired in a three-loss season, and it's not even November. It fired its head coach two weeks ago, but it's going full-steam ahead with massive upgrades to its historic football stadium.

From CollegeFootballTalk.com:

Pending approval from the commission that oversees the stadium, USC announced Thursday its preliminary plans for a $270 million renovation of the historic Coliseum.  The plans come over three years after the university took over the day-to-day operations of the Coliseum and two years after it took full control of the venue.  The university made sure to note in its release that “[t]he planned renovation would far exceed USC’s obligations under its lease agreement to invest $100 million in improvements by 2054, including $70 million over the next decade.”

If all of the plans are approved, the renovation would begin immediately after the 2017 season ended and would be completed by the start of the 2019 season. The Trojans would play at their home of over 90 years in 2018 as construction continued.

The additions will be privately funded.
