Former Michigan running back Mike Hart can breathe a sigh of relief.
A decade after Hart fell to 0-4 against Ohio State, Michigan offensive lineman Kyle Kalis, a former four-star Ohio State commit from Lakewood St. Edward, fell to 0-5 against the rivals.
YEAR | LOCATION | WINNER | SCORE |
---|---|---|---|
2016 | COLUMBUS | OHIO STATE | 30-27 (2 OT) |
2015 | ANN ARBOR | OHIO STATE | 42-13 |
2014 | COLUMBUS | OHIO STATE | 42-28 |
2013 | ANN ARBOR | OHIO STATE | 42-41 |
2012 | COLUMBUS | OHIO STATE | 26-21 |
Kalis isn't the only Wolverine to leave Ann Arbor 0-5 against their biggest rival. But Kalis is the only former Ohio State commit that promised blood on the field.
"There will be blood on the field and it won't be mine. … Quote it. Let them know," he told yahoo.com in January 2012.
Kalis, who decommitted due to the prospect of Tatgate sanctions crippling Ohio State, also predicted we'd see "a handful of guys make that jump that they usually wouldn’t."
He was right about that; only he probably didn't mean Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs luring key prospects out of the northern state after Michigan fired Brady Hoke.
Compare that to guys like Pat Elflein, who stayed true to the Buckeyes. They just earned their fifth pair of gold pants.
