It is with a heavy heart that the world of Big Ten football says goodbye to Joe Tiller. The former college football coach best known for his tenure at Purdue was 74-years-old.
We are saddened to report that Joe Tiller has passed away in Buffalo, Wyoming. Condolences to Arnette, Julie, Renee and Mike. RIP.

Joe Tiller retired from football after the 2008 season, concluding an 11-year stint in West Lafayette that earned him the distinction as Purdue's all-time winningest coach. Tiller arrived in West Lafayette in 1997 after a six-year tenure as Wyoming's head coach. The results were almost immediate and Purdue emerged as one of the innovators of the spread offense in the early 2000s. That will be one of Tiller's many legacies in the history of college football.
He is best known for the famed 2000 season in which Tiller coached quarterback great Drew Brees' Boilermakers to a Big Ten championship punctuated by big wins over Michigan and Ohio State. That season concluded with only the second-ever Rose Bowl berth for Purdue in the program's history.
He relocated to Wyoming after leaving the coaching ranks to enjoy his retirement in the mountains. Our thoughts are with his surviving family at this time.
