Joe Moorhead's days of terrorizing Big Ten defenses has come to an end.
Mississippi State will hire the Penn State offensive coordinator as its next head coach, according to several published reports.
The offensive wizard and fan of Run/Pass option plays, helped lead Penn State's resurgence to a Rose Bowl berth last season, as the Nittany Lions set program records for total offense, passing yards and tied the school mark for points scored.
This season, Penn State is seventh in scoring, averaging 41.6 points per game.
Moorhead will replace Dan Mullen with the Bulldogs. Mullen recently accepted the head coaching position at the University of Florida.
The move is being hailed as a smart hire for Mississippi State as Moorhead was considered the hottest coordinator in the Big Ten.
