Wisconsin was going to have to face Nebraska without its two top quarterbacks due to positive COVID-19 tests, but now the game won't be played at all.
After 12 people within the program tested positive for the virus on Monday morning, Wisconsin has decided to pause all football team activities for at least seven days, which includes the cancelation of Saturday's game.
“We have said from the beginning that the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff members comes first,” athletic director Barry Alvarez said. “Over the past several days we have seen a rising number of student-athletes and staff contract the virus. The responsible thing for us to do is to pause football-related activities for at least seven days.”
Saturday's game between Wisconsin and Nebraska will not be rescheduled and will go down officially as a "no contest" according to the Big Ten's policy.
