Venables was a long-time assistant coach at Oklahoma from 1999-2011 before joining Clemson and Dabo Swinney as the team's defensive coordinator in 2012. It will be the first time Venables is a head coach.
Venables has been a part of three national championships, one at Oklahoma (2000) and two at Clemson (2016, 2018). He won the Broyles Award in 2016, an honor given to the best assistant coach in college football.
Venables will take over an Oklahoma team that went 10-2 during the regular season. Clemson went 9-3.
