The Cleveland Browns' facilities in Berea usually host the Browns annual training camp, but that looks like that's about to change.

Alex Fischer, president and CEO of the Columbus Partnership, and someone "with close ties with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam," told cleveland.com's Tom Reed his organization submitted to move the annual three-week summer camp to Columbus.

While the entire field of bids submitted to the Browns is unknown, the University of Akron and Delaware's Ohio Wesleyan University have submitted a well-respected bids.

But the lure of America's 15th largest city will be hard for Browns president Alec Shreiner to ignore, as it's an important battleground in the ongoing struggle for the hearts and minds of central Ohioans.

According to Fischer, Columbus' bid included letters from the mayor, county commissioners, and local businessmen.

And while there's certainly a cavernous stadium in central Columbus that would fit Cleveland's ticket, the actual site is still To Be Determined:

"There are a number of places we think could meeting the Browns criteria," Fischer said. "During the process we've expressed that to them."

Ohio Dominican is one option, as well as building a facility that could be used by the MLS' Columbus Crew and other organizations.

The one thing I do know: Cleveland could move their training game into the shadow of the Gates of Hell, and Browns fans would be tailgating in the parking lot at dawn.
