Especially if you include today's 18 teams, rather than only the teams in the conference at the time of ranking, there have certainly been some close calls. I found examples of 3 out of 5, but 3 out of 4 is tough. Even with the Pete Carroll days fo USC, it seems like it has been decades where, even including today's teams, 3 of 4 would be B1G teams. In 2019 the final AP poll had 5 of 11 were current B1G teams, which seems like a very high bar.

When do you think the B1G has been the strongest that you remember, both with and without the new Pac/Nebraska/Rutgers recent additions?
