Ohio State set a Big Ten record this year – in the classroom.
A Big Ten record 449 Buckeye athletes across all sports earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this year, breaking the record number of 393 set by Ohio State last year.
The news comes after the Big Ten announced that a league-best 237 Ohio State athletes from spring and at-large sports were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team this year. The Buckeyes had a total of 212 Academic All-Big Ten honorees from fall and winter sports.
To earn Academic All-Big Ten status, a student athlete must maintain a 3.0 grade point average, but a pair of fencers – Benjamin Marcus and Aleksandra Kolmykova led the way with cumulative 4.0 grade-point averages.
