Ohio State fans are well versed in Patient 0's greatest threads (see: the bedazzler against Northwestern or the vivisection of Iowa).

Rick Pitino, who is generally bad but has seen a lot of basketball, says he's the best passer since Magic Johnson:

“In the last 30 some-odd years, outside of Magic Johnson he’s the best passer I’ve seen come along,” Pitino said. “[He] has great instincts [and] really understands the game very well.”

“Anytime you have that type of passing skills and that offensive mind for the game I think you’re going to be something special.”

We didn't need science to tell us those passes were amazing, but science is now at our doorstep to tell us why Russell's passing ability is even more amazing than we thought.

Some highlights:

  • Russell can identify targets in twenty-four hundredths of a second, the fastest reaction time ever recorded by Sport Science.
  • Russell can sling a pass up to 40 m.p.h., which is LeBron James territory.
  • When tested, Russell was able to "thread the needle," with 80% accuracy.

The NBA Draft is tonight on ESPN at 7 p.m. Russell-to-the-Lakers is gaining steam.
