Ohio State had a chance to pull off a potential season-altering win over Maryland on Tuesday night, but Melo Trimble was having none of it. The star guard scored seven of the game's final nine points to lead the Terrapins past the Buckeyes, 77-71.
One game after scoring a career-high 28 points in a win at Minnesota, Justin Jackson led all scorers with 22 points for Maryland. Trimble finished with 13 points and Anthony Cowan added 11 to help the Terps win their seventh-consecutive game.
Jae'Sean Tate paced Ohio State with 20 points in the losing effort, while Marc Loving and Kam Williams pitched in 18 and 10, respectively.
Maryland remains tied with Wisconsin atop the Big Ten standings with the win, while Ohio State falls to 13-10 overall, 3-7 in conference play with the loss.
The Buckeyes will be back in action on Saturday at Michigan. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
