Ohio State will be without its brightest star and offensive facilitator for its pivotal conference game on Thursday.
Listed as questionable entering the contest with Nebraska, point guard Bruce Thornton did not take the floor before or during the action and will miss the battle with the 20-8 Huskers.
Thornton is the Buckeyes' leading scorer this season, collecting 16.2 points per game while also pacing the team in assists with 4.2 per contest. He's often the driving force behind Ohio State's offensive sets, a big reason why he also holds a large team lead in minutes played, averaging 33.7 minutes per contest.
Guard Dale Bonner will likely start in Thornton's place, Ohio State's seventh man who averages 4.5 points, 1.1 assists and 0.6 steals per game. Bonner is fresh off a climactic game-winning shot against Michigan State.
Freshman guard Taison Chatman figures to be the next man up at the point, with guard Bowen Hardman another option for some backcourt versatility.
The Buckeyes and Huskers tip off at 6:30 p.m. in Value City Arena. FS1 will broadcast the tilt.
