Ohio State hosted a coveted transfer portal target in the secondary on an official visit last weekend, as Ole Miss transfer cornerback Davison Igbinosun made the trek to Columbus.

Per his social media accounts, Igbinosun seemingly enjoyed himself on his visit.

Igbinosun also visited Michigan this weekend following his OSU visit, as both the Wolverines and Buckeyes are pursuing the New Jersey native aggressively. Other contenders for Igbinosun, the top remaining uncommitted transfer prospect per 247Sports, include Tennessee and UCLA.

But the Buckeyes may very well be the front runner, as 247Sports’ Chris Hummer placed a Crystal Ball projection Monday in favor of OSU to land Igbinosun following his weekend visits.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Igbinosun has three years of eligibility remaining and had a prolific freshman season for the Rebels, as he was named an honorable mention Freshman All-American by College Football News. Igbinosun played in all 13 games for Ole Miss last season (starting 10) and compiled 37 tackles and five pass deflections.

Should the Buckeyes land Igbinosun, he’d be a good candidate to compete with Jordan Hancock, Jyaire Brown and other OSU cornerbacks on the roster for a starting job opposite Denzel Burke.

Chuck McDonald gets an offer from the Buckeyes

On the final day of January’s open recruiting period, Ohio State cornerbacks coach Tim Walton offered a highly-touted cornerback in the 2025 class, giving an offer to California prospect Chuck McDonald on Sunday.

McDonald doesn’t have a 247Sports composite ranking as of yet, but holds plenty of prestigious offers, racking up 14 Division I offers in total. Schools that have offered include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, UNLV, USC and Washington.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback appeared in 13 games for California powerhouse Mater Dei (Santa Ana, California) last season, as the Monarchs finished 12-1 in 2022. He racked up 28 tackles (one for loss) with six pass deflections, a forced fumble and two blocked punts.

Jalewis Solomon puts OSU in top 11

A four-star prospect in the 2024 class has trimmed his recruitment down to 11 schools. Four-star Georgia cornerback/wide receiver Jalewis Solomon released a top 11 Saturday that consists of Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina, Florida, USC, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama and Colorado.

“This process has been crazy, I’ve been getting offers from all over the place man. I’ve been taking this whole process slow and just taking in everything from all the schools that have been recruiting me,” Solomon told On3. “I’ve really enjoyed this whole process, I really have. But now it’s time for me to take a step forward and focus on these top 11 schools.”

Solomon picked up his offer from OSU on March 28. He’s considered the 118th-best prospect nationally in the 2024 class. In 14 games for Schley County (Ellaville, Georgia) last season, Solomon racked up 86 catches for 1,210 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defensively, he made 29 tackles (3.5 for loss), with three interceptions and four pass deflections.

Jaelyne Matthews commits to Penn State

An offensive lineman in the 2025 class with an Ohio State offer is taking his talents to a rival Big Ten school. Four-star New Jersey offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews announced his commitment to Penn State Monday, giving the Nittany Lions their first commitment in the 2025 cycle.

Other offensive tackles OSU has offered in 2025 include David Sanders, Mason Short, Avery Gach and most recently, Ohio prospect Carter Lowe.
