Saturday left Ohio State fans a little anxious.
Yet the Buckeyes averted disaster and escaped with a 21-17 victory over Nebraska, and managed to leave a strong impression on a few dozen visitors that were in attendance at Ohio Stadium.
Five-star 2025 defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart took his first of two scheduled OSU visits this fall over the weekend and received a full peer-recruiting pitch from quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair. It’s still probably a long shot Stewart ends up in Columbus, but if he goes elsewhere it won’t be for a lack of trying on St. Clair’s and OSU’s end.

Bralan Womack set to visit Ohio State Nov. 30
The No. 2 rated safety in the 2026 class has confirmed his visit schedule for the remainder of the fall. Five-star Mississippi prospect Bralan Womack will visit Washington on Saturday, LSU on Nov. 9, Texas on Nov. 23 and finally Ohio State for its contest with Michigan on Nov. 30, per Rivals.
Womack, the No. 19 player and No. 2 safety in 2026 per 247Sports’ composite rankings, earned an Ohio State offer in June after impressing Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri at a recruiting camp.
“It was a dream come true,” the five-star safety told Eleven Warriors in the summer. “It’s a dream offer and a dream school. I was very proud to get the offer. It just was an emotional moment. I’ve watched tons of games. All their College Football Playoff games since like 2017. I could tell you about a lot of it.
“(Coach Day) just said he loved my body type. I can do what a lot of other players can’t. I can help the program get over the hump. They’ve dealt with losing one game the past couple of years that keeps them away from the playoffs and the national championship.”
Womack may be from the south but is rumored to be very open to playing in the Midwest, with the 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect holding Notre Dame and Ohio State in high esteem.
“The way they develop and produce players to help them get to the NFL,” Womack said about what he likes the most about Ohio State. “But not only produce players, they keep them in the NFL. Marshon Lattimore, Denzel Ward, Jeff Okudah, Eli Apple, Malcolm Jenkins. Those are all guys playing like six-plus years, more than the average NFL career.”
In his junior season at Hartfield Academy (Flowood, Mississippi), Womack has racked up 16 tackles, one tackle for loss, eight interceptions and two pass deflections. Womack also plays wide receiver and has caught 33 passes for 860 yards and 11 touchdowns so far while also serving as the team’s punt and kickoff returner.
“My IQ and, like Matt Guerrieri says, the fact that I can move so great when I’m 200 pounds and that I run around a 4.4 or 4.5 (40-yard dash),” Womack said of what makes him a standout player. “That’s what stood out to him. And that I can pick up coaching one day and put it to use the next day.”
OSU 2026 targets Camdin Portis and Aaron Gregory commit elsewhere
Two Ohio State targets in the 2026 class are headed elsewhere.
One day after announcing a top-five consisting of Ohio State, Miami, Auburn, Penn State and Tennessee, four-star North Carolina cornerback Camdin Portis committed to the Hurricanes. Portis, the son of former NFL running back Clinton Portis, earned an offer from the Buckeyes in the summer following an impressive camp performance.
Meanwhile, four-star wideout Aaron Gregory committed to Texas A&M on Sunday. Gregory visited Columbus last fall, but hasn’t been connected to Ohio State all that much outside of that.
