Ohio State commit Jaelen Gill, a five-star running back from Westerville South, has agreed to give Eleven Warriors exclusive access into his senior season with the Wildcats.
He'll join us every Friday with a notebook entry sharing everything from his thoughts on his play to who he's recruiting on behalf of the Buckeyes.
Gill's latest entry comes just hours before Westerville South's game against Olentangy.
Nope, I wasn't voted homecoming King. A couple was nominated for King and Queen and I'm happy they won and got to go together. It was great to see the alumni, especially a few of my old teammates.
Halfway through the season and we're 3-2. We won our homecoming game against Big Walnut, 47-14.
We played away against them last year. I was injured, pacing up and down on our sideline on my scooter. We lost that game and I was so frustrated. We had three key players out injured. So I was thrilled that we were on the winning side this time and that our whole team played a great game.
We were able to spread the ball around on offense, gaining over 520 yards. Our defense continues to do really well. I'm proud of my team and how we've been playing.
I had two touchdowns, one interception and 127 rushing yards on six carries.
We have a bigger task this week against the Olentangy Braves and hope to add another win.
I spent Saturday back at the ‘Shoe for the OSU-UNLV game. It was HOT. That had to have been the hottest game I've ever been to. I brought two friends, one who had never been to a Buckeye game before. It was pretty cool to share that experience and we had a great time.
It was good to see the athletes getting more confidence. Besides the win, the best part for me was seeing Marcus Williamson and Brendon White getting playing time.
I've been taking ACT prep three times a week and finalizing my college application which should be ready to turn in at the end of the week. I'm glad to have that wrapped up, but it's another thing that hits home that I'm actually preparing to go to college. I know everyone goes through it, but the reality sometimes hits hard.
Everyone says enjoy high school, it will go really fast. During freshman year, it seems the opposite. I remember the seniors I played with my freshman year signing their Letters of Intent and then graduating, it seemed like my time would never come. Now I'm in the same position and sometimes it seems it's going so fast that I want it to slow down just a little.
Ohio State plays Rutgers this week. My parents grew up in New Jersey and we still have a lot of family and friends there. But my mom was born in Ohio and has always been a Buckeye fan. My dad was partial to the Buckeyes even living in New Jersey and became a full Buckeye fan after moving here over 20 years ago.
I love when we get to go back to visit, see everyone and EAT. There is amazing food in Jersey and we always look forward to eating when we go back. I bet the tailgate food is amazing! That's one game I'm looking forward to playing as a Buckeye because when we play at Rutgers, there will probably be family and friends that wouldn't get to many other games.
Go Cats! Go Bucks!
