After making an appearance on Mike & Mike, Urban Meyer stopped by the SportsCenter set to have a discussion with his good friend Joe Tessitore.
On the new College Football championship trophy...
“I did not realize that was the trophy. There's a big part of me that's always going to remember those crystal footballs.”
On Braxton Miller's development...
“He's full-speed, ready to go. Best shape he's ever been in. His attitude is terrific. It gave us a chance to work on the two areas he needs strength: the leadership part and just the overall knowledge of how to attack defenses and keeping his eyes downfield.”
“The next step is big. He's actually on a very standard development as a quarterback. His next step – he was the Big Ten Player of the Year two years in a row, has won a ridiculous amount of games – now his next step is to go win a championship.”
On the replacing four offensive linemen...
“Four great leaders—four great energy players that brought it every day to practice, and now they're gone. We have two starters right now and we have to find three more. Spring was somewhat disappointing, but I have a lot of confidence in our line coach and have a lot of confidence in our personnel. We just got to get better.”
On spending two days with Chip Kelly and the Eagles...
“We're going to steal some of the things Coach Kelly has done with the Eagles. His attention to detail and sports performance is something I've never experienced before. So, it's a new era for the Buckeyes. We're going to do a lot of it as well.”
On emerging players...
“I don't like to use the word stars, but our safeties, Vonn Bell and Tyvis Powell are two names. Youalso have this kid named Curtis Samuel out of Brooklyn, New York and he was here for the spring. He could be the real deal. And Raekwon McMillan is a highly-recruited guy and I hope holds up to what he's supposed to be.”
