CHICAGO — Joshua Perry's NFL career is officially on path, and he's set to join an Ohio State teammate in the process.
The San Diego Chargers selected the two-year starter, Ohio State team captain and first-team all-Big Ten linebacker with the 102nd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft Saturday. Perry is the second Buckeye linebacker off the board in this draft, after Darron Lee went 20th to the New York Jets. The Chargers also drafted defensive end Joey Bosa third overall on Thursday.
Bosa, already out west, got to let the world know he gets to continue being a teammate with Perry.

Perry is now the sixth Ohio State linebacker drafted in the last six years, joining Lee this year, Ryan Shazier in 2014, Ross Homan and Brian Rolle in 2011 and Austin Spitler in 2010. He leaves Columbus 16th in program history with 298 career tackles and led the Buckeyes with 124 in the team's 2014 national championship season. Perry started 39 of his 52 career games at Ohio State.
One of 11 finalists for the 2015 Lott IMPACT Trophy, Perry was a leader and spokesman for not only Luke Fickell's linebacker corps but Urban Meyer's entire program.
Perry's selection makes 11 Ohio State players off the board in the 2016 NFL Draft.
