Ohio State stole the show Thursday night during the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft with five selections — all of which came within the top-20 picks. This wasn't a surprise, of course, as the Buckeyes sent five players to Chicago as projected first-round selections and have a chance to break the NFL Draft record of 14 players from one team picked in an entire Draft.
The biggest storyline for Day 2 from an Ohio State perspective: What can the Buckeyes do for an encore?
Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft go down Friday night. Things kick off with the Cleveland Browns — who are currently on the clock with the 32nd overall selection and the No. 1 pick in the second round — though many expect the Browns to trade down and acquire more picks (a real shocker here).
It's widely believed Ohio State will have four former players selected Friday night — Vonn Bell, Michael Thomas, Braxton Miller and Joshua Perry — and there's potential it could match last night's total of five players selected between the two rounds.
Here are three additional Ohio State storylines to watch Friday night at the NFL Draft.
WHO WILL BE THE FIRST BUCKEYE OFF THE BOARD?
There will be a few Ohio State players taken Friday night, but who goes first? The answer here seems like it's between two guys: Bell and Thomas.
Dane Brugler, an NFL Draft analyst for CBS sports, posted his second-round mock draft earlier Friday morning and has Bell going as the second pick in the second round — No. 33 overall — to the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are apparently targeting Bell as the player they want, according to Brugler.
But Thomas is also an intriguing prospect and probably the top wide receiver left on a lot of draft boards considering Corey Coleman, Josh Doctson and Laquon Treadwall all went in the first round Thursday. If a team really wants or needs a wide receiver, Thomas could become the first Buckeye off the board in Round 2.
WHO SELECTS THE NFL DRAFT'S MYSTERY MAN, BRAXTON MILLER?
Miller is one of the more intriguing prospects in this year's NFL Draft. There's so much unknown about Miller and his move to wide receiver and it has many teams very interested. But there's also a lot of risk in taking someone who has only played a position for one year with an early-round pick.
Miller figures to go somewhere in the second round, but if teams are afraid to risk a pick on him he could slide into the third. The Titans are a possibility at No. 45 overall, as are the Bengals at No. 55 and the Patriots with either the 60th or 61st overall pick.
WILL ANY OF OHIO STATE'S OTHER PLAYERS CLIMB INTO THE SECOND OR THIRD ROUND?
As mentioned above, Bell, Miller, Perry and Thomas seem like strong possibilities to go in either the second or third round, but there's the potential another Ohio State player hears his name called, as well.
The likely candidates for that? For me, there's two: tight end Nick Vannett and another wildcard, quarterback Cardale Jones.
If teams really covet a tight end, Vannett seems like he could go in the third round and match the draft point of Ohio State's tight end a year ago, Jeff Heuerman, who was selected in the third round by the Denver Broncos.
Jones, like Miller, is a true wildcard for the simple reason there's just not a lot of game tape on him. He only started 11 games in college and he got injured at the NFL Combine so he didn't get to do much there, either. NFL teams know about his big arm, but all they really have to draft Jones on are his 11 games in college and his pro day workout. Still, a team could take a flyer on him in the third round.
