A Look Back at All of the Big Ten Record 107 Touchdowns in J.T. Barrett's Ohio State Career

With a simple 9-yard out to Austin Mack in the fourth quarter of Ohio State's game with Army Saturday, quarterback J.T. Barrett wedged his name into the Big Ten league record book. Drew Brees' 17-year-old record for touchdowns was bumped as Barrett recorded the 107th touchdown of his career.

It's not often that a player sets a tier-one league record like that a week after fans were calling for his benching, but that's a topic for another time. Today, we're here to look back on all 107 of Barrett's touchdowns.

Of his 107 touchdowns, 74 have come through the air, starting with a career-long 80-yard bomb to Devin Smith in his first ever start, way back in 2014. 33 of the quarterback's scores came on the ground, the highlight likely being his 86-yard jaunt against Minnesota that same season, in which Barrett looked like the slowest fast guy on earth.

That 2014 season was a magical one for Barrett. Despite suffering an injury at Michigan and missing the final three games of Ohio State's championship season, Barrett still accounted for 45 touchdowns that year, good enough for a Big Ten record for a single season.

And he's been consistent throughout his career. In only three games as a starter has Barrett failed to account for a touchdown: Northwestern and Clemson in 2016, and Oklahoma in 2017. The Buckeyes were able to win that game at home against Northwestern, but suffered defeats in the other two games.

Through the years, Barrett found Michael Thomas for 13 touchdowns, Smith nine times, Jalin Marshall nine times, Curtis Samuel eight times and Dontre Wilson seven times. Among current Ohio State players, Terry McLaurin leads with three touchdown receptions from Barrett.

Barrett's single game high is seven touchdowns, recorded against Bowling Green in 2016, featuring six passes and one run. His high for rushing touchdowns in a game is three, coming twice: against Maryland and Michigan in 2015.

Rutgers is Barrett's biggest victim, surrendering 14 touchdowns to No. 16 in three games. Maryland checks in next, allowing 12 touchdowns, while Barrett has dropped eight scores on the Michigan Wolverines.
