A pair of starters on Ohio State's defense have earned Academic All-District honors for their performance in the classroom.
Fourth-year junior defensive end Sam Hubbard, who carries a 3.51 grade-point average and is majoring in finance, makes this year's Academic All-District 5 (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio) Football Team along with sophomore safety Jordan Fuller, who has a 3.82 grade-point average and is majoring in sport industry.
Both players are now on the national ballot for this year's College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America team, which will be announced in December.
Hubbard has a chance to become a two-time Academic All-American, having previously earned the honor in 2016. Ohio State's Jacoby Boren and Jack Willoughby were Academic All-Americans in 2015.
On the field, Fuller leads all Buckeyes this season with 54 total tackles and also has three passes defensed, including an interception. Hubbard leads all Ohio State defensive linemen with 30 total tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.
