Rod Smith played behind Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State and is now behind Elliott as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. However, with Elliott suspended, Smith is making the most of his additional playing time.
The Cowboys, nursing a 17-10 lead against the lowly 2-10 Giants, were facing a 3rd-and-3 from their own 19-yard line when Smith made a play. The former Buckeye took a short pass from Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott 81 yards for a touchdown, eventually leading to a 30-10 Cowboys win.

Smith finished the game with five receptions for 115 receiving yards, adding another 47 yards on the ground and a 15-yard score later in the fourth quarter.
In four years (31 games) at Ohio State, Rod Smith had just nine receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns. The running back led the Cowboys with five receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown today. Taking advantage of the increased playing time.

The performance of Smith caught the eye of Elliott, who tweeted support of his teammate during the game.
