Half the regular season is behind us, making it a solid time for national outlets to reflect on the top performers so far this season.
The Associated Press, Pro Football Focus, The Athletic and CBS Sports each released midseason All-American lists on Tuesday, and the Buckeyes got plenty of love with Chase Young, Jeff Okudah, Wyatt Davis and Jordan Fuller all appearing on multiple lists, with Young cracking all of them.
Here's a compilation of the midseason lists.
Associated Press
- Chase Young
- Jeff Okudah
Two Ohio State players made the Associated Press' first-team midseason All-American team with Chase Young and Jeff Okudah receiving the first-team honors, but the Buckeyes got even more love with the second team.
J.K. Dobbins, Wyatt Davis and Jordan Fuller all received second-team honors, giving Ohio State a total of five players across the first and second teams – the most in the nation.
Former Buckeye quarterback Joe Burrow also received first-team All-American honors from the AP.
Pro Football Focus
- Wyatt Davis
- Chase Young
- Jeff Okudah
- Jordan Fuller
Pro Football Focus' Midseason All-American list was quite Buckeye-heavy, with four Ohio State players getting first-team honors – the most of any team in the country – and two more getting second-team or honorable mention nods.
Wyatt Davis, Chase Young, Jeff Okudah and Jordan Fuller were each named first-team midseason All-Americans by Pro Football Focus. Here's the breakdown of each player, from Cam Mellor of Pro Football Focus:
First-Team OG: Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
The Buckeyes are certainly in the running for the best overall team this season and Davis is a key cog on their offensive line that allows their offense to fire on all cylinders. He’s a shining example in the run game, paving the way for multiple wide-open lanes on the interior for Dobbins while limiting his pass-rushers to just seven total hurries this season on his 189 reps in pass protection. He’s blocking against stout competition and winning the vast majority of those reps.
First-Team Edge: Chase Young, Ohio State
Currently on pace to set PFF records, Young is winning 36.9% of his pass-rushing snaps this season as he’s the country’s best player at any position. He’s currently grading out at 96.7 overall and has 29 total pressures on his 127 pass-rushing snaps. A year after leading the country in total pressures, the way Young is playing so far in 2019 will see him lead the nation in overall grade by some distance.
First-Team CB: Jeffrey Okudah, Ohio State
Showing off his ball skills on the true national stage, Okudah made headlines with his interception from his backside against Nebraska, but his other pick on the night was even more impressive. He beautifully read the route from the receiver and ran the out route better than the offensive player to step in front of it for the interception. For the year, he has three interceptions, three pass breakups and is limiting quarterbacks to just a 49.1 passer rating on throws into his coverage.
First-Team S: Jordan Fuller, Ohio State
Fuller and Okudah are two shining examples of how to play their positions and they both happen to play in the same secondary. Fuller roams the field and has made multiple plays on the ball in coverage, notably on passes not even into his primary coverage area, and he has two interceptions and a pass breakup to his credit this year while not missing a tackle against the passing game all season long.
Joining these four on the list are J.K. Dobbins, earning a second-team honor, and Thayer Munford with an honorable mention nod.
Former Buckeye quarterback Joe Burrow also cracked the list as first-team quarterback, ahead of Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma and Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama.
The Athletic
- Wyatt Davis
- Chase Young
- Jeff Okudah
Ohio State had three representatives on The Athletic's midseason first-team All-American list, tied with Oregon, Wisconsin and LSU for the most nationally.
Wyatt Davis, Chase Young and Jeff Okudah each earned first-team honors.
From The Athletic ($):
OG Wyatt Davis, Soph., Ohio State: Several Buckeyes linemen could be candidates in what’s been a stellar start to the season for the unit blocking for Justin Fields and J.K. Dobbins. A former five-star recruit, Davis started two games as a redshirt freshman and has excelled upon moving into the starting lineup full-time as a sophomore.
DE Chase Young, Jr., Ohio State: The Buckeyes lead the nation in sacks, and the biggest factor has been Young, who has amassed 8.5 sacks and forced three fumbles while creating relentless pressure for a much-improved defense.
CB Jeff Okudah, Jr., Ohio State: Okudah started only one game before this season, but he has been widely viewed as a potential early draft pick and is living up to the billing. He has three interceptions, three pass breakups and a forced fumble for a defense that has leaped to fourth nationally in pass efficiency allowed.
J.K. Dobbins also received some recognition, earning second-team honors at running back to bring Ohio State's total honorees to four – tied with Oregon for second in the country.
Former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow was once again the first-team quarterback, topping Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa.
CBS Sports
- Chase Young
- Jordan Fuller
Only two Buckeyes cracked CBS' Sports All-American list with Chase Young and Jordan Fuller receiving nods.
Young was one of just four unanimous selections, joining Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor, Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard and Georgia's Andrew Thomas.
Once again, former Buckeye quarterback Joe Burrow topped the list at CBS' first-team quarterback, making him a unanimous first-team midseason All-American along with Young.
