Dwayne Haskins is QB1.
Washington will go with Haskins as its starter on week one as the second-year former Buckeye signal-caller beat out veteran Alex Smith to earn the starting quarterback role, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The team's first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Haskins took over Washington's starting quarterback role midway through the 2019 season, but struggled early on, throwing for just 800 yards through his first six games with just two touchdowns to his six interceptions, including three in his regular-season debut.
Haskins did bounce back later in the season, throwing for 564 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception in his final three games, but an ankle injury ended his season two games early.
The veteran Smith, cleared to return to football this offseason after a 2018 leg injury that nearly cost him his life, battled with Haskins in camp for the starting role, but ultimately Washington elected to go with Haskins in his second season.
Haskins will be one of what looks to be three Buckeyes in Washington's starting lineup, joining former teammates Terry McLaurin and Chase Young, the 2020 No. 2 overall pick. Marcus Baugh is also on Washington's roster as he attempts to make the team as a free agent after playing most recently in the now-disbanded AAF with the San Diego Fleet.
