For the second straight week, Ohio State will be without the services of Master Teague, who has taken more carries this season (43) than any Buckeye not named TreVeyon Henderson. Ryan Day said this past week that Ohio State hoped to have Teague back following last week's absence, but the fourth-year Buckeye will not suit up for the scarlet and gray. Teague is Ohio State's third-leading rusher this season with 245 yards.
Henderson, redshirt freshman Miyan Williams and true freshman Evan Pryor handled all the carries among Buckeye running backs against Indiana, and will have to do so again against the Nittany Lions, with Teague sidelined and Marcus Crowley out for the season.
“We know that it’s gonna be unexpected. That’s what we talk about to our players all the time, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen,” Day said about Ohio State's running back depth this week. “That’s why you have to recruit depth, and guys gotta understand their opportunity’s gonna come if they just continue to work, because it’s a rough game and guys get injured. You have to be able to adapt with that, but I think Tony’s done a really good job with his room.”
Junior offensive lineman Harry Miller will miss his sixth game of the season Saturday. A starter in 2020, Miller didn't make his 2021 debut until Ohio State's Oct. 2 matchup with Rutgers. Miller logged 26 snaps against Rutgers and Maryland in consecutive weeks, but has now been unavailable for the past two games.
Second-year tight end Gee Scott Jr. is unavailable for the second straight game. The former wideout is third among Ohio State tight ends with four receptions for 43 yards this season.
All 14 Buckeyes that missed last week's game, including offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi and defensive lineman Jaden McKenzie, are all out once again for Ohio State. The only new addition to the status report is second-year defensive lineman Darrion Henry-Young, who has played just 18 snaps for the Buckeyes this season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Ohio Stadium for Ohio State's matchup against Penn State.
