The All-American awards keep coming for the Buckeyes.
On Monday, the Associated Press awarded Marvin Harrison Jr. with first-team honors and Paris Johnson Jr., Dawand Jones, Tommy Eichenberg and Ronnie Hickman with second-team recognition.
The AP is the latest new organization to bestow first-team All-American recognition on Harrison, as he previously received the honor from Pro Football Focus, CBS Sports, The Athletic, Bleacher Report, Walter Camp Football and the Football Writers Association of America.
With first-team awards from Walter Camp, the FWAA and the AP, Harrison has earned the title of a consensus All-American – the first Ohio State receiver to accomplish that feat since Terry Glenn in 1995.
If Harrison receives the same honor from Sporting News on Tuesday and the American Football Coaches Association on Wednesday, he would become the first unanimous All-American for Ohio State since Wyatt Davis claimed the accolade for his performance in the 2020 season.
The second-year Buckeye was a consistent weapon for Ohio State this year, catching 72 passes for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns through the first 12 games. In addition to his All-American awards, Harrison was also a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, a first-team All-Big Ten selection and the Big Ten's Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year.
With the Peach Bowl still in front of him, Harrison already ranks within the top six for a single season in Ohio State history and will have a chance to improve those numbers on Dec. 31 against the Bulldogs. As a true sophomore, the Philadelphia native will also have another opportunity to surpass his statistical output in a scarlet and gray uniform next season as he returns to the program for the 2023 season and his third year as a Buckeye.
Johnson had previously been named a first-team All-American by Walter Camp, The Athletic, Bleacher Report and the FWAA. His second-team honors from the AP now accompany the same recognition he received from CBS Sports earlier this month.
At the same time, Jones earns his first second-team All-American accolade after receiving first-team honors from PFF and CBS Sports, while Eichenberg picks up his sixth All-American award with first-team recognition from PFF and B/R and second-team awards from Walter Camp, CBS Sports and FWAA and Hickman takes home his second honors after receiving a second-team nod from PFF.
