Mitch Rossi is getting his chance to compete for an NFL roster spot.
The former Ohio State fullback/tight end is participating in the New York Giants’ rookie minicamp this weekend on a tryout basis after going unselected in last weekend’s NFL draft.
Some notable names at Giants rookie minicamp on tryouts:

QB Bryce Perkins
QB Hunter Johnson (Clemson)
CB Iman Marshall
CB Gemon Green (Michigan)
K Peyton Henry (Washington)
FB Mitch Rossi (Ohio St.)
Rossi is getting a look at the next level after establishing himself as a key role player on offense and special teams for Ohio State over the last four years despite starting his Buckeye career as a walk-on. While he caught only seven passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns and ran the ball only five times for 12 yards and a touchdown as a Buckeye, he was a consistently reliable blocker as both a fullback and an in-line tight end and a staple on special teams.
He’ll look to showcase his versatility to play in a multitude of areas this weekend, which could bolster his chances of earning a roster spot and sticking around with the Giants.
