The event that kicks off the 2023 Big Ten football season has arrived.
With preseason camps set to start for Ohio State and the league's other 13 member schools next week, the conference held its annual Big Ten Media Days on Wednesday and Thursday. The event is occurring at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where representatives from every Big Ten program met with reporters over two days.
Ohio State's turn at Big Ten Media Days came Wednesday when head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes' three player representatives – wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., defensive end JT Tuimoloau and tight end Cade Stover – all fielded questions from Big Ten media members.
Day participated in both a televised press conference and a 45-minute breakout session with reporters while Harrison, Tuimoloau and Stover each met with the media for 30 minutes.
Ohio State shared Wednesday's session with six other Big Ten programs, including Illinois, Rutgers, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State and Iowa. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti, hired to replace Kevin Warren in April, kicked off the day with a press conference on his own.
Michigan headlined Thursday's session with the remaining member schools, including Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska and Wisconsin, now led by former Ohio State defensive tackle and coach Luke Fickell.
Here is the complete breakdown for each head coach's televised press conferences, followed by a schedule for coaches and players at individual podiums:
*Northwestern's three player representatives for Big Ten Media Days – Bryce Gallagher, Rod Heard II and Bryce Kirtz – announced Tuesday that they would not attend media days, explaining that they did not want their participation dominated by the hazing issue that would steal focus away from football the upcoming season.
