Ohio State Ranks Third Behind Alabama and Georgia in 247Sports' Team Talent Composite for 2023

According to 247Sports' team talent composite, Ohio State has one of the best rosters in college football in 2023. And remember: Numbers never lie.

On Wednesday, 247Sports ranked Ohio State third behind Alabama and Georgia in its team talent composite for the 2023 season. The Crimson Tide checked in as the No. 1 roster in college football with a composite score of 1,015.43 points, while the Bulldogs (977.87) edged out the Buckeyes' (974.79) by 3.08 points to claim the second-best roster.

Texas A&M and Clemson round out the top five teams behind Ohio State. Texas, LSU, USC, Oklahoma and Oregon form the remainder of the top 10. Here is a look at those top-10 teams, complete with each roster's number of commits, five-stars, four-stars and three-stars, and its average player score and total points.

Notre Dame, Ohio State's Week 4 opponent, boasts the 11th-best roster in the sport. Head coach Marcus Freeman has 79 commits in his program, including one five-star, 56 four-stars and 21 three-stars for an average score of 91.16 points per player and a total score of 870.70.

Ohio State leads all Big Ten schools in the team talent composite with the next closest programs, Penn State and Michigan, ranked 13th and 14th, respectively. This season the Nittany Lions have 82 commits, three five-stars, 46 four-stars and 33 three-stars, which creates an average of 90.37 points per player and a total of 858.06 points. The Wolverines feature 85 commits: two five-stars, 45 four-stars and 38 three-stars for an average of 90.51 per player and 850.43 points.

Beyond Penn State and Michigan, seven more Big Ten schools ranked in the top 50 of the team talent composite: Nebraska (21st), Michigan State (27th), Wisconsin (30th), Iowa (41st), Maryland (43rd), Indiana (47th) and Purdue (48th).
