In a Saturday full of touchdowns for Ohio State, Jermaine Mathews Jr. added the cherry on top.
Around the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter, the Ohio State freshman cornerback intercepted a pass from Western Kentucky backup quarterback Bronson Barron and returned it 58 yards for an Ohio State touchdown.

His score was the second defensive score for the Buckeyes, as defensive tackle Tyleik Williams recovered a Western Kentucky fumble in the end zone for a touchdown earlier in the second half.
Mathews' pick-six marked the first time since Ohio State's win over TCU in 2018 that the Buckeyes' defense scored two touchdowns in the same game. It also served as Ohio State's second interception of the season after Denzel Burke snatched the ball out of Youngstown State receiver Bryce Oliver's hands last week.
