Press Coverage: How Miyan Williams, Lathan Ransom Injuries Could Impact Ohio State and Why the Buckeyes Can’t Have A Bad Day at Rutgers

Injuries were a big topic during Ryan Day’s press conference on Tuesday.

Most notably, Day announced Tuesday that Buckeyes running back Miyan Williams, who missed last week's game against Wisconsin, will be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing a procedure for a knee injury.

It also appears likely Lathan Ransom will miss time after a vague response by Day in which he said that Ransom’s injury and his timeline for return are still being evaluated, which likely means Sonny Styles becoming Ohio State’s starting strong safety in his absence.

Quarterback Kyle McCord was also noticeably hobbled in Saturday's win against the Badgers, but Ryan Day gave no indication he'd be limited in practice or at risk of not playing against Rutgers this weekend, though the injury remains something he could have to battle through over the final month of the season.

On a more positive note, Day said that Devin Brown and Emeka Egbuka will both be on the practice field this week after Brown missed last week’s game against Wisconsin and Egbuka missed the last three games with an ankle injury he suffered in Ohio State’s first game of October against Maryland.

Speaking of Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights probably aren't a big threat to upset Ohio State outright, but the Buckeyes could be in for a tougher test than usual in Piscataway against an improved Rutgers squad that is already bowl-eligible.

Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope and Andy Anders discuss all of those topics and how the Buckeyes will have to overcome their various injuries on this week’s episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch in the video at the top of the page.
