Somehow Ohio State’s celebration after defeating Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinals exceeded its jubilation after beating Oregon in the quarterfinals.
After Caleb Downs led a horde of fellow defensive backs to celebrate with Buckeye fans gathered at the Cotton Bowl following his interception on the Longhorns’ final drive, hugs and excitement were shared across the board as avalanches of confetti rained down on the field. Cody Simon ensured Will Howard got on stage after Rose Bowl staff held him off for weight limit concerns in the previous game.
Davison Igbinosun shouted that Ohio State is “going to the fuckin’ natty” and a litany of secret handshakes were shown off. Jack Sawyer and Howard raised an Ohio Against the World flag, too. You can view the full compilation of scenes from the Buckeyes’ celebration at the top of the page.
After trophy presentations and speeches, the Buckeyes’ players and coaches were sure to link arms before their marching band and sing Carmen Ohio as TBDBITL sent them off to the CFP national championship game in Atlanta.
Ohio State will play Notre Dame for the national title on Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. with ESPN set to broadcast the conclusion of the 2024-25 college football season.
