A four-star prospect out of Kahuku, Hawaii, Vimahi was the No. 5 offensive guard and No. 119 overall prospect in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman chose Ohio State over Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Washington, among other schools.
Vimahi was the last remaining member of the 2019 recruiting class on Ohio State’s roster.
In five seasons at Ohio State, Vimahi appeared in 35 games and made two starts for the Buckeyes, including the team's 2022 loss to Michigan and its 2023 Cotton Bowl loss to Missouri.
Vimahi is the fourth Buckeye to enter the transfer portal in April, following running back Dallan Hayden and safeties Cedrick Hawkins and Ja'Had Carter. Hawkins committed to UCF on April 20, and Hayden committed to Colorado on April 22. Carter entered the transfer portal on Sunday and remains in search of a new school.
