A freshman offensive lineman added scarlet to his helmet this week.
On Thursday, Ian Moore became the seventh Ohio State freshman to shed his black stripe in 2024, following after wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, quarterback Julian Sayin, safety Jaylen McClain, defensive end Eddrick Houston, running back James Peoples and linebacker Payton Pierce.

A native of New Palestine, Indiana, Moore was the No. 168 overall prospect in the 2024 class. While 247Sports classified Moore as an interior offensive lineman, the 6-foot-6, 309-pound athlete has worked as an offensive tackle in his first preseason at Ohio State.
After a virus passed through the offensive line room and caused several Buckeyes to be limited in practice or miss practice altogether, Moore has earned increased reps in camp. According to offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, Moore has impressed his coaches and teammates with how he's performed in those additional opportunities, leading him to shed his black stripe and "officially" become a Buckeye.
"He's really come along," Kelly said on Thursday. "He's another guy that's benefited from those extra reps they don't normally get."
