Across The Shield is Eleven Warriors’ weekly recap of the best and most notable performances from former Ohio State players throughout the NFL.
Week 6 was headlined by a dominant pass-rushing day by Nick Bosa and five former Ohio State skill-position stars – Terry McLaurin, Justin Fields, C.J. Stroud, Garrett Wilson and J.K. Dobbins – who accounted for nine combined touchdowns in big games for all five.
Bosa records 14 pressures
Over the past four years, only one player has had as many quarterback pressures in a single NFL game as Nick Bosa did Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks. That player was Nick Bosa.
Bosa tied his own mark for the most quarterback pressures in an NFL game since 2021, as recorded by NFL Next Gen Stats, by pressuring Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith a whopping 14 times in the San Francisco 49ers’ 36-24 win. Bosa previously had 14 quarterback pressures in a 24-9 win over the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
Nick Bosa generated 14 pressures against the Seahawks, tied for the most pressures by a pass rusher in a game over the last four seasons (when Bosa also had 14 pressures in Week 4, 2022 against the Rams).

Bosa’s 14 pressures are four more than any other NFL player has recorded in a game this season. Aidan Hutchinson has the second-most with 10 – which also came in a game against the Seahawks – while Bosa’s nine quarterback pressures against the New England Patriots in Week 4 are tied for the third-most in a game so far this year.
Just as he did after that game, Bosa earns our Pro Buck of the Week award for Week 6 as the week’s top NFL performer from Ohio State, becoming the first two-time winner of the award this season.
Week | Player | Stats |
---|---|---|
1 | Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins | 10 carries, 135 yards, 1 TD; 3 catches, 4 yards |
2 | Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. | 4 catches, 130 yards, 2 TD |
3 | Commanders WR Terry McLaurin | 4 catches, 100 yards, 1 TD |
4 | 49ers DE Nick Bosa | 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 FR, 9 QB pressures |
5 | Seahawks LB Jerome Baker | 14 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF |
6 | 49ers DE Nick Bosa | 4 tackles, 2 QB hits, 14 QB pressures |
Bosa also recorded four tackles in run defense, and his 14 pressures included two quarterback hits, one of which resulted in an interception by 49ers safety Malik Mustapha on the Seahawks’ opening drive.

That said, Bosa was disappointed that none of his pressures ended in sacks.
“It’s a finishing business,” Bosa said after the game. “Especially when you’re me and you’re expected to finish. There’s a couple close ones there where it was almost ball’s out, game over and I’ve just got to keep going. It’s a long year and just look at the tape and try and finish those because that’s what players like me need to do.”
Terry catches two touchdowns
Terry McLaurin scored two touchdowns in the same game for just the third time in his NFL career and the first time since 2021.
The former Ohio State wide receiver scored a 7-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as part of a six-catch, 53-yard day in the Washington Commanders’ 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

McLaurin has now caught 21 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns in the Commanders’ last four games as his connection with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to grow. He’s already matched his touchdown total from 2023 and is just three away from his career-high of seven touchdowns from his rookie season in 2019.
Fields runs for two touchdowns
While he still hasn’t been named the Pittsburgh Steelers’ outright starter at quarterback, Justin Fields made his case again in Week 6 that he should keep the job for at least one more week even though Russell Wilson has recovered from the calf injury that sidelined him for the start of the season. (Update: NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday that Wilson will take first-team reps in practice for the Steelers this week, putting him in line to start against the New York Jets in Week 7; Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Wilson is in consideration to start against the Jets but that a final decision on who would start in Week 7 had not yet been made.)
For the second time in three weeks, Fields ran for two touchdowns as he crossed the goal line on 3- and 7-yard runs. Fields now leads all NFL quarterbacks this season with five rushing touchdowns.

Fields ran for a season-high 59 yards on 11 carries while he completed 14 of 24 passing attempts for 145 yards in the Steelers’ 32-13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He is now 4-2 as the Steelers’ starting quarterback.
Stroud throws for three touchdowns
It was a winning week for both NFL quarterbacks from Ohio State as C.J. Stroud threw three touchdown passes in a game for the first time this season – and just the second time in an NFL regular-season game – to lead the Houston Texans to a 41-21 win over the New England Patriots.

Stroud finished the game with 20 completions on 31 passing attempts for 192 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He’s now led the Texans to a 5-1 start this season, tying the best start to a season in franchise history.
Wilson catches a toe-tapping touchdown
Garrett Wilson made one of the prettiest touchdown catches of Week 6 on Monday Night Football.
The former Ohio State wide receiver’s toe-tapping catch at the back of the end zone was briefly ruled to be incomplete before being overturned to a 5-yard score as video review clearly showed that Wilson got both feet down in bounds with firm possession of the ball.

The touchdown came as part of Wilson’s second straight 100-yard game as he caught eight passes for 107 yards on the night.

Despite Wilson’s efforts, the Jets suffered their third straight loss as they were defeated 23-20 by the Buffalo Bills. Curtis Samuel had his most productive game of the season in a winning effort for Buffalo, catching three passes for 44 yards.
Dobbins sets career-high in carries
Going into Week 6, J.K. Dobbins had never had more than 17 rushing attempts in an NFL game. He shattered his career high by eight on Sunday as he had 25 carries for 96 yards in the Los Angeles Chargers’ 23-16 win over the Denver Broncos.
Dobbins’ 96-yard day included a 4-yard run for a touchdown, his third score of the season.

Dobbins has now rushed for 438 yards – the sixth-most in the NFL even though the Chargers have already had a bye – and three touchdowns on 81 carries this season.
Hall makes NFL debut
After starting the season on the commissioner’s exempt list and completing a five-game suspension last week for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, former Ohio State defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. made his NFL debut in Week 6.
Hall, who was not permitted to practice during his suspension – which came after he was arrested in August for domestic violence, a charge that was ultimately reduced to disorderly conduct – played 25 snaps off the bench in his first game as a Cleveland Browns rookie and recorded a tackle for loss on Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
Just one play later, however, the Eagles sealed a victory when Jalen Hurts completed a 40-yard pass to A.J. Brown, allowing them to run out the clock on a 20-16 win that dropped the Browns’ record to 1-5.
Notes Around the NFL
- Former Ohio State wide receivers Chris Olave and Marvin Harrison Jr. were both knocked out of their Week 6 games early as they suffered concussions.
- The Eagles signed Parris Campbell to their active roster on Saturday after elevating him from the practice squad for their prior three games. He did not see action in his first game as a member of their active roster.
- The Broncos elevated Tanner McCalister from their practice squad for the third time this season. He played but did not record any statistics in Sunday’s loss to the Chargers.
- The Chargers signed Eli Apple to their practice squad on Monday. The former Ohio State cornerback had been unsigned since becoming a free agent in March following one season with the Miami Dolphins.
- The Jets released Jalyn Holmes before their Monday night game against the Bills. He had played in all of the Jets’ first five games of the season, recording four tackles.
The following table, compiled by Eleven Warriors researcher Matt Gutridge, includes statistics for this week and the entire 2024 season for every Buckeye who has played in at least one game this season. (Note: The table only includes players who finished their college careers at Ohio State.)
