Urban Meyer isn’t returning to Ohio State’s sideline.
Meyer shot down speculation that he could return to the Buckeyes as head coach on Thursday in a statement released on the official account for his podcast, The Triple Option, in which he said he has “no interest in coaching again” while expressing that he has “full confidence in Ryan Day, his staff, and every player that puts on the Scarlet and Gray.”

A rumor that Meyer could return to Ohio State began earlier this week when Jay Crawford of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show said he had talked to multiple people close to Ohio State who believed Meyer would come back if asked, claiming Meyer “never wanted to leave Ohio State” when he retired in 2018 after seven years as the Buckeyes’ coach.
Meyer has repeatedly maintained that he has no plans to coach again, however, following his brief stint as coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. Since then, Meyer has worked as an analyst for FOX Sports, appearing on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff pregame show each Saturday during the college football season.
