Press Coverage: Ohio State’s Offense Looks to Get Back on Track With Offensive Line Rotation, Schematic Tweaks Against Tennessee

Ohio State's offensive line will be its biggest weakness for the remainder of the season, be that one game or as many as four. That's what happens when the two best players are gone from a unit.

After poor performances from the Buckeyes' interior offensive line against Indiana and Michigan, Luke Montgomery is going to see playing time at guard against Tennessee, Ryan Day said on Monday. Joshua Padilla, who Day also said was competing on the inside last week, seems to have faded in that conversation, which likely means Ohio State will stick with Carson Hinzman at guard.

It's unclear whether Montgomery will start at left guard or exactly how much the Buckeyes will rotate at guard, but regardless, Ohio State needs to do a better job of scheming away from its disadvantages on the offensive line than it did against Michigan. Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly echoed that sentiment on Monday, saying that the ball needs to get in the hands of the Buckeyes' weapons on the perimeter more often.

Eleven Warriors' Andy Anders and Dan Hope both expressed moderate confidence that things will improve for Ohio State's attack against the Volunteers, but still have reservations based on the offensive line uncertainty and the Michigan game. They discuss where things stand in the latest episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch at the top of the page.
