Ohio State is losing another offensive lineman to the transfer portal.
George Fitzpatrick decided to enter the transfer portal on Saturday, becoming the third Ohio State offensive lineman to enter the portal since the end of the regular season.

A former 4-star recruit, Fitzpatrick served as a key reserve for the Buckeyes this season and posted a 73.8 PFF grade.https://t.co/YLFZrYyeYe pic.twitter.com/E2l1BI3W8j
Fitzpatrick joins Zen Michalski (who has since signed with Indiana) and Miles Walker (who has transferred to Boise State) as Ohio State offensive linemen to opt to transfer since the end of the regular season.
Both Fitzpatrick and Michalski made their decisions to enter the portal after Ohio State signed a pair of transfer offensive tackles for next season in Ethan Onianwa and Phillip Daniels, making it unlikely that Fitzpatrick or Michalski would be in line to start at tackle next season.
Fitzpatrick saw playing time as a backup guard in each of Ohio State’s first two College Football Playoff games, but has spent most of his three seasons with the Buckeyes as an offensive tackle, the position he was recruited to play out of high school.
Fitzpatrick will bring two years of eligibility to his next destination.
While Onianwa and Daniels are likely to be Ohio State’s starting offensive tackles next season with the impending departures of Donovan Jackson and Josh Fryar after this season, the departure of Fitzpatrick along with Michalski and Walker could potentially give OSU reason to add another transfer tackle for depth. Ian Moore and Deontae Armstrong are now the only returning linemen who have primarily played tackle at Ohio State, though Tegra Tshabola and Luke Montgomery have also spent time outside while incoming freshmen Jayvon McFadden and Carter Lowe could also both provide depth at OT.
