Carnell Tate is staying at Ohio State.

Following a week of rumors that the Ohio State wide receiver was considering entering the transfer portal, Tate committed to staying at Ohio State on Friday night, a source confirmed to Eleven Warriors.

Ohio State’s official Twitter account all but confirmed the news themselves, as did Tate on social media.

Tate’s commitment to staying at Ohio State comes after a report on Friday morning that Tate had been offered more than $1 million to enter the transfer portal. There had been rumblings all week that Tate was considering entering the portal for the opportunity to be a No. 1 wide receiver elsewhere, but he’ll be now staying in Columbus to lead Ohio State’s 2025 wide receiver room alongside Jeremiah Smith, who also reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State after the same Friday morning report indicated that Smith was offered $4.5 million to transfer elsewhere.

Tate has caught 70 passes for 997 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons at Ohio State. He started all but one game for the Buckeyes in 2024, totaling 52 catches, 733 yards and four touchdowns, highlighted by a two-touchdown performance in his hometown of Chicago and a seven-catch, 87-yard effort in the Cotton Bowl.

Smith and Tate are likely to be joined in the starting lineup at wide receiver next season by Brandon Inniss, a fellow junior who was Ohio State’s No. 4 receiver this year.
