This time Liz Schepers gets the nod. She is the conference’s co-Offensive Player of the Week. She shares the accolade with Bemidji State's Clair DeGeorge. They make up half of an all-freshman cast in the latest round of players of the week.

Schepers led all Buckeyes against Mercyhurst with two goals and an assist. Her late game heroics secured an OSU victory in Friday’s contest. She very nearly netted a second gamewinner on Saturday, scoring to give the Bucks a 3-2 edge heading into the third period.

The freshman was overshadowed early in the season by fellow rookie sensations Emma Maltais and Tatum Skaggs. But the spotlight has widened of late to include the Mound, Minnesota native. Schepers has posted eight points (four goals and four assists) in her last nine games.

Jincy Dunne (a goal and an assist) earned an honorable mention from the WCHA for Defensive Player of the Week. (Because, apparently, she couldn’t even buy one of these things.) Emma Maltais was mentioned honorably for Rookie of the Week.

The women’s hockey Bucks (12-4-4, 8-2-4-3 WCHA) return to the ice in the new year. They host a non-conference series against Penn State on Jan. 5-6. Friday’s game is set for a 6pm start.
